Comedy Central Records announces the digital release of Maria Bamford's 20%, available Friday, September 24. Being released as a Comedy Central Digital Release, 20% will be available on Spotify, Amazon MP3, Google Play, Apple Music and all other streaming and download services.
Recorded at UCB Franklin in Los Angeles, Bamford's latest album 20% reveals how she's coping with married life, getting older, being bi-polar, and the many strange encounters she had during and after her nervous breakdown. Throughout, Bamford mines her darkest moments for humor with unbridled honesty and brings a range of colorful characters – some familiar, some new – to life.
This marks the third Maria Bamford album with Comedy Central Records, having previously released the critically-acclaimed "Ask Me About My New God!" and "Unwanted Thoughts Syndrome." Currently, Bamford stars in the semi-autobiographical Netflix comedy series "Lady Dynamite," lauded as "revelatory" by Entertainment Weekly and one of 2016's must-see shows by Variety and Rolling Stone. The series was created by Mitch Hurwitz ("Arrested Development") and Pam Brady ("South Park").
Bamford is the creator and star of "Maria Bamford: the special special special" and of the cult hit web series "The Maria Bamford Show", which screened at the Museum of Art and Design. She was the first female comic to have two half-hour "Comedy Central Presents" specials and starred alongside Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis and Brian Posehn in the Comedy Central series "The Comedians of Comedy" and Netflix's "Comedians of Comedy: The Movie."
Bamford voices characters on numerous animated series including "BoJack Horseman," "Adventure Time," "Legend of Korra," "Puss in Boots" and PBS's Emmy-winning series "Word Girl." She can also be heard voicing lead roles on Fox's "Golan the Insatiable" and Yahoo's "Talking Tom & Friends". Bamford recurred as DeBrie Bardeaux on Netflix's "Arrested Development" reboot, for which she was praised as a "standout" (TIME) and "perhaps one of the high points of the entire new season" (Black Book Magazine). She has also recurred on USA's "Benched," FX's critically-praised "Louie," and currently recurs on the ABC hit "Fresh Off the Boat."
Comedy Central Records is home to the biggest names in stand-up with albums from top comedians Amy Schumer, Daniel Tosh, Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Hannibal Buress, Louis C.K., Jim Gaffigan, Tracy Morgan, Patton Oswalt, Nate Bargatze, John Mulaney, Marc Maron, Natasha Leggero, Chris Hardwick, and more.
