Veteran Foo Fighters and Sunny Day Real Estate bassist Nate Mendel has released his debut solo record today under the moniker Lieutenant. The album, If I Kill This Thing We're All Going To Eat For A Week, is available now from Dine Alone Records at local retailers and online at iTunes, Amazon, and http://dinealonestore.com. Fans can also stream the record at Spotify and at NME.com.
Lieutenant marks a milestone in Mendel's career, showcasing his abilities as main songwriter, vocalist and guitarist for the quintet. Called "an impressive marriage of Sunny Day's intimate soul-purging and Foos' powerful guitar heft" (NME.com), If I Kill This Thing We're All Going To Eat For A Week features standout tracks like "Rattled," "Belle Epoque," and "Believe The Squalor."
Lieutenant will be performing shows later this month with a live lineup that will include Christian Wargo (Fleet Foxes) on bass, Paul "Pablo" Wilson (Snow Patrol) on guitar, Jesse Wood (The Naked and Famous) on drums and the record's producer Toshi Kasai (Melvins, Helmet) on keys. Tickets are on sale now.
