Vining Hill, a western Massachusetts-based hard rock band, today announced a Dec. 30 release date for the new album, Smoke. The four Vining Hill musicians describe Smoke as self-made – written, recorded and produced entirely as an independent collaboration. Smoke, an 11-track release, is a divergent album with a cultivated sound. The album echoes the band's 12-year history including songs written before their 2009 to 2011 hiatus, which have been re-worked to elevate them to the level of the newly written material.

"Our songwriting and overall sound has evolved as we have matured," said lead vocalist, Corey Plucker. "The album contains many new songs along with refreshed and more exciting versions of songs we have been playing for a long time."

Nick Jones, bass and backing vocals continued, "Since we produced the album entirely ourselves, we were not working against any time or budgetary constraints." The uninhibited production process and sound evolution created a new Vining Hill. The same creative writing style from the band's self-titled two-track extended play release in 2007 is evident; however, the organization of melodic acoustic lines and tight metal riffs have propelled Vining Hill onto higher ground.

"You can hear a variety of influences in our rhythm that are complemented by heavier technical elements," said Jon Jones, drummer. "Vining Hill is all about creating something different. The traditional hard-hitting sound is nuanced with something that is uniquely ours. It disrupts the status quo of both rock and heavy metal. We're really excited to share this album because it has literally been years in the making."

Lead guitarist Chris Campetti agrees with the rest of the band that this recording process has been surprisingly addictive. He noted that "We got so caught up in [the production process] that it was tough to decide where to draw the line. We're already looking down the road to the next session and this one hasn't even released yet."

The Vining Hill lineup consists of Corey Plucker (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Chris Campetti (lead guitar),  Jon Jones (drums) and Nick Jones (bass, backing vocals) – all originally from the Granville area, though bandmates have migrated throughout New England.

Pre-release digital orders of Smoke are available on Bandcamp for $4, which includes one track immediately available streaming via the free Bandcamp app and as a high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more; upon release, the album will be available for purchase on Amazon, Bandcamp, CD Baby, iTunes, Reverb Nation and Soundcloud.
