Elektra Records has announced the signing of Saint Motel, the newest addition to its legendary roster. The LA-based indie quartet – who has toured with the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Imagine Dragons – recently released their latest project "MY TYPE," a four-track collection now available on iTunes at
"As local Angelenos, we have been following what Jeff Castelaz has been doing for a long time, first at Dangerbird and now Elektra," said Saint Motel frontman A/J Jackson. "What we have seen is nothing short of amazing and we are very excited to be working with such smart and passionate people."
"It's a real honor to have Saint Motel join our roster as we enter the 65th year of Elektra Records," says label President Jeff Castelaz. "Not only is Saint Motel an exceptional live band who writes stylish, brash pop songs, but like their Elektra predecessors The Doors, the MC5, Metallica and others, they are also the ultimate group of self-starters, who have built a substantial audience and a healthy business prior to landing on our doorstep."
The EP's title track and lead single "My Type" has seen global success with radio airplay in multiple countries overseas including Germany, Switzerland and Italy, where the song has been certified Gold. The band has also received critical acclaim from a myriad of international media outlets including features in both Italian Vogue and Rolling Stone.
The companion video for "My Type," which was directed by the band's frontman A/J Jackson, has nearly 2.5 million views and can be viewed at Saint Motel's official YouTube channel:
In early 2015, Saint Motel will embark on a U.S. tour with dates starting January 22nd at Pub Rock in Phoenix, AZ and ending in San Francisco, CA on February 7th at The Chapel. Following that trek, Saint Motel will head back overseas for an extensive two-month European tour hitting several countries where their success with "My Type" continues to build including Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, France and Italy.
Saint Motel's full-length Elektra debut is already in the works and will see its release in 2015. It's a record that Jackson describes as sexy and exciting. He adds: "We disappeared up the California coast for two weeks and came back with the best work we'd ever done."
Saint Motel formed at a film school in southern California when A/J Jackson recruited Aaron Sharp – "the best guitarist on campus" – in his pursuit of a new musical project. They met Bangkok-born bassist Dak Jones southern California when he was working locally as a sushi chef and completed the puzzle with the addition of Greg Erwin on drums.
After independently releasing their first album "VOYEUR" in 2012, Saint Motel scored support slots with the Arctic Monkeys and Imagine Dragons.
Saint Motel is: A/J Jackson (vocals) Aaron Sharp (guitar) Dak Jones (bass) and Greg Erwin (drums). For more information on Saint Motel, please visit and
