Island Records artist Shawn Mendes, one of Time Magazine's most influential teens of 2014, will officially join Taylor Swift on her 1989 World Tour between May and October of 2015 (see dates below). It was also officially announced that Shawn's new single, "Something Big" will be released on November 7th, an earlier than initially planned release date as fans were given a chance to unlock the song on iTunes ahead of it's scheduled release.

Coinciding with today's announcements, Shawn earned his first RIAA gold certification for his debut single, "Life of the Party," which vaulted to #1 on iTunes less than one hour after it's release in June. Within 24 hours of its release and #1 chart debut, there were over 2 million mentions of "Life of the Party" on Twitter, skyrocketing it to the #1 postition on Billboard's Twitter Music charts. "Life of the Party" charted inside the iTunes Top 5 in 28 other countries (including the UK, Brazil, Sweden, and Norway) and Top 10 in another 38 countries.

"Life of the Party" is the lynchpin of The Shawn Mendes EP, his self-titled 4-song EP that took over the iTunes #1 position less than 30 minutes after its release in July and debuted Top 5 on the Billboard chart. The EP also includes "Show You," "One Of Those Nights," and "The Weight," all of which were co-written by Shawn.

Shawn has scheduled the first three major-venue headlining shows of his career, to take place on November 15th at Best Buy Theater in New York City; November 26th at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles; and November 30th at Danforth Music Hall in his hometown of Toronto. Following that, he'll be performing as part of the "iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2014 Concert Tour" in December (dates below).

Shawn transitioned from teen viral online sensation to full-fledged industry best-seller in July, and performed live on the FOX 5 morning television show Good Day New York, and ABC's Good Morning America, Live with Kelly & Michael, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.  He also performed on and was interviewed by Ellen.  On July 25th, Shawn began his first major tour engagement, on the road across the U.S. and Canada with Austin Mahone's Secret Tour

Shawn, who turned 16 on August 8th, has accumulated over 20.9 million YouTube views as his clips have spread across Vine (over 3.3 million followers), YouTube (1.2 million subscribers), Instagram (over 2.1 million followers), Twitter (over 2.08 million followers), Facebook (over 816K likes), and every online social outlet imaginable.  Heading into 2015 , Shawn is just getting started, writing and recording his own music, and growing into one of our brightest new stars.
