One Direction's new album FOUR debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with over 387,000 copies sold this week. Once again, One Direction make US chart history as the first group to ever have their first four albums debut at #1. This amazing U.S. debut comes hot off the heels of One Direction's incredible night at the American Music Awards where they performed their new single "Night Changes" and took home 3 awards including Artist of the Year. On Spotify, FOUR has received the largest first week streams ever in the US with over 11.6 million streams and 29.3 million streams globally. The band also reached a milestone with Spotify as they hit 1 billion total streams, joining an elite handful of superstars to reach this feat. FOUR, which includes the lead single "Steal My Girl" and the upcoming single "Night Changes," is the boys most personal album, co writing 11 of the 12 tracks and sees the band working with their long time collaborators Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, and Jamie Scott on the majority of the album.
One Direction celebrated their album release day at Universal Studios Orlando for a performance on NBC's Today Show in front of 15,000 people. The band also taped a second performance to air as part of their NBC holiday special, One Direction: The TV Special to air on NBC December 23rd. Other release week activities included stops at the Ellen DeGeneres show and a chat with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The band will return to the US for their third appearance on NBC's Saturday Night Live, airing December 20th.
The band will be hitting the road again for their 2015 highly anticipated ON THE ROAD AGAIN stadium tour, which sees the band perform in Australia, Japan and South East Asia in support their new album FOUR. The North American tour, promoted by Live Nation, kicks off on July 9, 2015 at the Qualcomm stadium in San Diego, Cali.
