MUSIC NEWS: Goodnight, Texas Announce Tour Dates for their New Album Uncle John Farquhar

Goodnight, Texas will be hitting the road this fall to support their new album Uncle John Faquhar due out on August 5th on Tallest Man Records. The first single  "A Bank Robbers Nursery Rhyme" made it's debut on Guitar World's Acoustic Nation who called the song "An Americana Romp brimming with clever lyrics and clever banjo-based twang. The video for the song debuted on CMT  who said "With a thumping bass for motivation, the band slowly works up its courage before a climactic bridge.
ou can imagine the posse in a brisk, single-minded walk toward the bank and then flinging the doors open. From there, it's a flurry of desperate activity."
The duo of Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf, the core songwriters in Goodnight, Texas, initially met in San Francisco. Wolf moved across the country to Chapel Hill, North Carolina but the two continued to collaborate and bonded over their mutual love of old wooden instruments and a vision of late nineteenth century blue collar America. The two decided to name their cross-country musical collaboration after the tiny Texas panhandle town of Goodnight which is the exact mid-point in between their two homes, San Francisco and Chapel Hill.
Uncle John Farquhar is the follow to the bands critically acclaimed debut A Long Life of Living (press highlights can be Viewed HERE),  is a deeper mediation on the bands fascination with the turn of the century era working class America and is the next chapter in their music journey through our nations past.  The first album (A Long Life of Living) was inspired by Industrial Revolution era stories from the Northeast and Appalachian mountains. UJF (for short), which was conceptualized as a scrapbook, takes the journey a bit further south and a bit further along in time to the Civil War and Re-Construction era. The songs are inspired from personal experiences as well as stories and letters from uncovered from digging through books, archives and their own personal family history.
The band has spent the majority of the past two years on the road turing with artists such as Shakey Graves, Rusted Root, numerous festivals and playing two sold out shows at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco. The first with Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers and the second with Bombay Bicycle Club.
Joining Goodnight, Texas on select dates will be Brooklyn's The Bones of J.R. Jones.
