Platinum indie-rockers Blue October are kicking off their 2013 world tour tonight in New Orleans with their brand new album Sway having debuted at lucky #13 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart.  In addition, Sway has received stellar press notices, especially for the optimistic and positive message the 13 new songs convey.  In his New York Times feature, Andy Langer wrote that Sway "includes some of the most lyrically upbeat songs of [Blue October's] career," and the Houston Press said, "Brimming with positivity, 'Sway' still feels like Blue October, but it's somehow completely different."

As frontman/songwriter Justin Furstenfeld told the Times, "I can lay the demons out on a card table, call them by name and organize them into stacks, but I'm not letting them run my life."

"Bleed Out," the album's first single, has become Blue October's seventh Top 40 track, having entered Billboard's Modern Rock chart at #40.  The single is getting airplay on more than thirty alternative and rock radio stations, including The Point in St. Louis, The Edge in Dallas, Boston's 92.9, X96 in Salt Lake City, Philadelphia's Radio 104.5, and The Buzz in Houston.  With the added cache of being one of these stations' most requested songs, "Bleed Out" has seen increased sales every week for the past four weeks.

In addition to its #13 Billboard debut, Sway also debuted in the #1 spot on the Current Alternative Albums chart and #3 on the Top Independent Albums and Current Rock Albums charts.  It was a Top 10 debut in some 20 U.S. markets, including Dallas, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, St. Louis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Austin, Tampa-St. Petersburg, and Salt Lake City.

On the tour, Blue October - Justin Furstenfeld/guitars, vocals, Jeremy Furstenfeld/drums, Ryan Delahoussaye/violin, viola, mandolin, piano, and Matt Noveskey/bass - will be joined by their former guitarist, C.B. Hudson, who played with the band between 2000 and 2010, and will premiere songs from Sway, as well as perform fan-favorites from the band's six-album discography.
