NEW ALBUM FROM MIKE SCHMIDT, THE BIG ANGRY, OUT TOMORROW.

New this week from aspecialthing Records comes the release of a very special album, MIKE SCHMIDT's THE BIG ANGRY.   Part stand-up, part confession, The Big Angry is Chicago-born comic Mike Schmidt's debut album, and it's unlike anything you've heard before.  As with his cult podcast "The 40 Year Old Boy," in The Big Angry Mike excavates his troubled past – and even more troubled family ties – in an earnest attempt to explain why at the age of 46 he is still, in his own words, "a f*ck-up." It's a journey that is alternately hilarious, profane, violent, disturbing, and deeply moving, often within the same breath. We're left with an unforgettable account of one man's struggle to survive himself - an account that is, like all great comedy, both deeply personal and universal.

Mike Schmidt began his standup career in 1991, starting in Los Angeles, then moving to Chicago for a few years before ultimately settling back in L.A. Mike was a co-host on the hit podcast "Never Not Funny", and has worked as a staff writer on numerous productions, including GSN's "Starface" and "Funny Money", ESPN Classic's "Cheap Seats", and "Funniest Pets And People" on WGN/TBS.

The Big Angry is available Tuesday, August 20th on aspecialthing Records.
