Bob
Saget returns to the stage that made him what he is today – a dirty mother
fucking comedian who made his living being a clean actor on “How I Met Your
Mother,” “Full House” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
His
new special, “That’s What I’m Talkin’ About,” is a gem of hilarious, yet
raunchy, material that solidifies Saget’s legacy in the comedy world. For those
of you who think his material is similar to THAT character (yes, Danny Tanner) on
television, you’re in for a surprise.
Right
off the bat, Saget sets the tone by offering a lady his penis and explaining
that a girl just came up to him and said, “Oh my God! I grew up watching you.”
He replied, “Now you’re going to go down watching me.”
He
touches on all subjects such as poop, boogers, fist bumping and John Stamos,
all of which are delivered via one-liner, short stories and audience interaction.
Saget has built a huge comedy fan base (he’s been doing stand-up for 30 years),
completely opposite of the older generation wanting to send him home videos who
envision him as a loving father to the Olsen twins.
Saget
also talks about his family life with a dog and a loving lady and how his penis
has a tattoo of a condom so he doesn’t have to wear protection anymore. But don’t
think he doesn’t stay away from his “Full House” co-stars, with one bit
apologizing to Dave Coulier saying that he shaves his testicles. “I said that
in a previous special and people were going up to him… He actually has a Justin
Bieber comb over down there.”
The
comedian’s main influence was his father, who was a walking rim shot. Jokes
like, “The party has cake and cock, and they’re out of cake. I was like, ‘I’m 11.
I want cake,’” and “I read a story in the paper. There was a spelling error and
I didn’t know if he shot or shit himself,” predisposed Saget’s material on
stage.
Another
funny bit is about the Tourette’s Guy, who instead of saying “fuck you” or “God
damnit” would scream “Bob Saget!” It got so bad kids would repeat this phrase
as if it were a bad word. Hearing this special and kids referring to “Bob Saget!”
as a bad word, as opposed to his squeaky clean image on television, are
definitely a reality and not an irony.
“That’s
What I’m Talkin’ About” was taped at the Moore Theatre in Seattle and drops
July 16, 2013 on audio and DVD.
