Shauna Case, the fifteen year old recording artist and actor, who is one of the stars of Cartoon Network's sketch comedy show, Incredible Crew, has joined forces with SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) to help spread awareness for the prevention of suicide. Shauna and her family deal first-hand with a loved one who battles depression and thoughts of suicide. This is a cause that is close to her heart.
"I know how hard it is to experience the effects of this illness and watch a family member live in pain," says Shauna. "I want to show others there is hope. SAVE is a great resource and can provide the tools to help understand what you and your loved ones are going through. With education, things will get better."
Suicide is a national public health crisis and is the second leading cause of death among 15 to 34-year-olds and the third leading cause of death for 35 to 44-year-olds. SAVE is the leading suicide prevention agency in the nation working to prevent suicide through public awareness and education, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and serves as a resource to those touched by suicide.
"We are really excited to have Shauna join our work," said Dr. Dan Reidenberg, SAVE's Executive Director. "She brings passion and a great voice to help others who are struggling to know there is help and there is hope."
Shauna will appear in several videos for SAVE, including its updated video presentation for schools, and will record a number of public service announcements for their national radio campaign. Her image will also appear in several updated information brochures.
