Upstart metal sensations, Red Tide Rising, in the midst of their first ever national tour, supporting In This Moment, were horrified to hear of the tragedy that affected a suburb of their hometown of Denver.  As they were headed back home for a short break, they issued the following statements:

The shootings have made me homesick and worried about my friends and family. I also have a great deal of sympathy for those who were injured and lost their lives. - Sean Verity (17)

It's scary hearing about the shooting that happened about 10 minutes from my home.  There were some friends of mine and friends other friends who were there.  Luckily all of them are unharmed.  It will be tough, when we get back, to deal with all of the heavy emotions in our community but we all give our condolences to the victims and their families and everyone affected by the shooting.  We have been holding moments of silence at each show to keep them in our hearts as we perform. - Andrew Whiteman (19)

As happy as I am that we weren't in the vicinity of the shooting, it's so hard to be away from family and friends who have been affected by it back home. My mom, who is a flight nurse, went to help the Aurora victims just after the shooting, called me in almost in tears just to say she loved me. It was hard to hear and difficult to not be able to give comfort from such a long distance. Our hearts go out to the victims of the families of the attack. - Laura Myers (19)

I can't believe such a terrible thing could happen so close to home.  So many people I know have been affected by this tragedy and my heart goes out to each and every one of them.  We are very anxious to get home just to be with our friends, families and community to help work through all of this together. - Matt Guerin (21)

It's heartbreaking to see a moment of enjoyment turn into a moment of horror in a split second.  We think about how we had this great opportunity doing what we love and the dreams that have been made during the tour.  All of the lives that were taken had dreams and goals as well and I hope the survivors will continue to pursue those hopes and dreams and I hope all of the victims and their families can find their way home. - Matt Whiteman (17)

The quintet returns to the road on 4 August in Ballwin, MO and their new Ep, Inferno, is out now.
