Actress Naama Kates Talks Acting, ‘The Ten Commandments of Chloe’ and Her Debut Album, 'The Unexamined Life.' - Interview

Actress Naama Kates moved from Connecticut to New York City and found herself in an accidental acting career. With roles in "NCIS" and the indie films "Cookies and Cream," and "Eden," the actress segued into a new career in music. She recently stopped by to talk about her past life in television and film.

You started off in acting; you've done "NCIS" and were even in the film, "Stepmom." You must've started early because "Stepmom" was like 1998? How did you get involved in acting?

Yeah, I was like 12 or something and I went with a friend of mine because she was going as an extra. The director wanted a scene where there was to be talking and it wasn't an actual speaking part but it got cut. It wasn't really a big part anyway. I really was just closer from the background than the other people in the background. And it got cut (laughs). Acting wasn't what you wanted to do then?

I wasn't thinking I was going to pursue it as a career, no. My friend called and asked if I wanted to come and I thought it was sort of glamorous and fun so I did. And that was it.

It seemed like you stuck with it; you've done other things.

I did. I didn't really stick with it; I came back to it when I moved to the city, New York City. At that point I didn't know what I wanted to do and was dabbling in all kinds of things and acting was one of them.
