Adrenaline Mob’s “Omerta” is…I Don’t Know, Amazing

I’ve had Adrenaline Mob’s debut album “Omerta” for over a month now. I want to thank Mike Portnoy, Russell Allen and Mike Orlando for helping me lose 37 lbs. I would just pop “Omerta” on and run/work out for an hour. Orlando’s heavy guitar riffs, Portnoy’s groove, and Russell’s angry yet inspiring lyrics kept me chugging along, only another 50 lbs to go guys.

When I think about Adrenaline Mob, I feel like one of those teenage girls who are just dying to see this new “Hunger Games” movie or the last “Twilight” movie. I love this band way more than I should. I wear the Black Label colors and love listening to bands like Pantera and bands inspired by Pantera. There are plenty of copycat bands, but Adrenaline Mob just brings something refreshing to the table.

This album is perfect, beginning to end. Russell Allen (also in Symphony X) has an amazing voice. His range is perfect for hard rock music. I love his ability to scream yet sing at the same time. I think the first single “Undaunted” could be this generation’s “Walk.” Also on the album is a cover of Duran Duran’s “Come Undone,” with guest vocalist Lzzy Hale. Adrenaline Mob’s version sends chills down my spine every time I hear it. Without Lzzy Hale I think it would be just another metal band covering an 80’s pop song, but Hale and Allen singing together is pretty fucking special.

Dare I say in March that “Omerta” is the best album of 2012? My favorite all time band is Aerosmith and they’re working with Jack Douglas right now, so the jury is out for me, but it’s going to have to be one bad ass Aerosmith album for it to top this. I’ve heard the new Van Halen and I love it, but it doesn’t keep me erect like “Omerta” does.

If you loved the EP, then you’ll love the album even more. If the EP wasn’t for you than the album probably won’t be for you either. In fact a friend of mine said Adrenaline Mob was like graduating from Harvard (ie Dream Theater/Symphony X) and going to community college. That's kind of what I like about it. These guys were looking for something different and decided to just put together a bad ass rock band, why does it have to be complicated, why can't it just rock? The album is fucking amazing.
