‘Largo Winch’ is a Multi-Layered Action/Thriller. – Movie Review

“Largo Winch” is a multi-layered action/thriller with various twists and turns up until the very end. Based on the comic with the same name, the title character, played by Tomer Sisley, is the lone heir to a billion dollar company headed by his adoptive father, Nerio Winch, played by Miki Manojlovic.

Nerio is murdered and the main suspect is the company’s rival, Mikhail Korsky, who made his money in gunrunning and now wants to be known as a respected businessman. Korsky, played by Karel Roden, plans on taking over the company in a takeover offer at the upcoming General Assembly to determine Winch’s W Group’s future.

It’s not until the very end of Nerio’s life that he discloses to his right hand woman, portrayed brilliantly by Kristin Scott Thomas, that he has an heir to inherit the company. Before the initial takeover offer by Korsky takes place, Thomas’ character, Ann Ferguson, must locate this so-called heir that nobody has heard of to save the company.

However, not knowing anything about the heir and with Nerio’s reputation of keeping secrets, Ferguson is hesitant in turning over her boss’ life work to an adventurer whose life dabbles in drug trafficking and assassins.

What happens is a dazzling portrayal of genius storytelling by the writer and director, Jean-Paul Rappeneau and Jérôme Salle respectively. Some of the plot is foreseeable but the execution and flashback method of foreshadowing make “Largo Winch” a movie that may make noise in theaters.

You don’t have to be a fan of the Philippe Francq and Jean Van Hamme created comic to enjoy the film. “Largo Winch” is out now and is available on VOD, iTunes, Amazon.com, VUDU, Xbox Marketplace and Playstation.
