Comedian Doug Stanhope Begins U.S. Headline Tour September 23, 2011.

Doug Stanhope, the brutally honest and shockingly uninhibited comedian will begin his fall U.S. tour on September 23rd in Wilmington, NC. He is also scheduled to perform at the Litla-Hraun maximum security prison in Iceland on September 25th which was announced last month. Stanhope just completed a 25-date residency in London’s Leicester Square to rave reviews and sold out shows. The UK’s Metro lauded Stanhope with five stars saying, “Searing, relevant and brilliantly funny, there’s good reason why Stanhope is often cited as one of the greatest comedians on the planet…If fearless stand-up is your bag, you’d be a fool to miss him.”

Most recently Stanhope was featured in Louis C.K.’s FX show Louie in season 2, episode 9 entitled “Eddie” where he garnered overwhelming praise.

Stanhope’s critically acclaimed cutting edge stand-up, ranging from biting social commentary to the crass and obscene, has landed him appearances everywhere. He has also been featured on The Howard Stern Show, Comedy Central Presents, Showtime’s “The Green Room With Paul Provenza,” The Man Show, several appearances on various BBC shows, as well as an upcoming appearance on Fox’s “Stossel.” Stanhope was also featured in controversial film The Aristocrats alongside George Carlin, Don Rickles and Chris Rock to name a few.

His most recent CD/DVD Oslo: Burning The Bridge To Nowhere came out May 3, 2011 topping the Billboard comedy chart and was recorded in an abandoned factory in the Grünerløkka suburb of Oslo, Norway.
