Black Tide's 'Post Mortem' Shows Similarities to Bullet For My Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold. - Review

Avenged Sevenfold is one of the biggest bands touring today. It’s not a surprise that up and coming bands tailor their music to sound like A7X. Bullet For My Valentine is one of those bands with a similar sound. Another band that fits the thread is Black Tide, which features Matt Tuck from Bullet For My Valentine.

Black Tide’s album, “Post Mortem,” which comes out August 23rd, is a solid rock album. The musicianship is top notch and you can tell the group cares about the type and quality of music it puts out. The unfortunate thing is “Post Mortem” sounds an awful lot like Bullet For My Valentine, which sounds like Avenged Sevenfold.

This is not a bad thing as Godsmack made a living sounding like Metallica. Black Tide’s orchestrated guitar solos and riffs complement the steady drum beat that A7X popularized. Add the harmonic chorus and you have a recipe for success. I believe Black Tide can find success, much like Bullet For My Valentine did sounding like A7X. I know, I know, I know, there were bands before Avenged Sevenfold but right here, right now, A7X rules the charts.

Right now Black Tide is a middle of the line-up band. Avenged Sevenfold is headlining a national tour; Bullet For My Valentine and Black Tide happen to be on that tour. This bodes well for Black Tide as the instant fan base for this tour will gain them huge exposure. Hopefully fans will forgive their sound being too similar to Avenged Sevenfold.
