"Bellevoxx is refined, non-sexual with an international twist." - Interview

Baseball great Frank Thomas does more than hit homeruns on the field. He also hits homeruns in the music industry. His newest group, signed to his W2W label is Bellevoxx. Raquel recently stopped by to talk about the band, Thomas and the fact the girls love when fans post on the Facebook page.

Q - Where did the name Bellevoxx come from?

A - It came from a place that we all felt passionately about: We wanted something refined, non-sexual and with an international twist that would set us apart.

Q – How did the band come together with each member bringing a different background?

A - Our "Coach" Frank Thomas. Over the years he had signed us individually and as our own distinct sounds emerged, he realized that our voices put together would have a power all its own - he was right.

Q – What does each member bring to the band?

A - I think I bring the experience and a big sister vibe to the group. Harmony brings a sexy, crazy, frenetic screwball chaos that keeps everyone laughing and on their toes. Denisse brings a sweetness and innocence that causes you to underestimate the power of her voice.

Q - The band is signed with Frank Thomas’s label W2W. How did this come about?

A - Like I said, Frank signed us all individually over the years to try to develop us as solo artists. It was only when Frank envisioned what we could do as a group was when things began to take off.

Q - Describe the band’s music for those who haven’t discovered you yet.

A - It's a fun mixture of pop, dance and R&B. We try to challenge the genre by working with reggae, metal and acoustic elements to please us artistically and appeal to a fan who wants more from their favorite group.

Q – When writing music, is it a collaborative effort or does one person primarily take the responsibility?

A - Right now, it's collaborative in that Frank has exposed us to some incredible songwriters and producers. As we enter this world, we're learning from the best and applying it to our own craft.

Q – Who were your musical influences growing up?

A - My influences were animated Disney musicals, and my voice training came from trying to match talents with Ariel and Belle. Harmony was in Annie as a kid, and Denisse was deeply influenced by her parents’ love of Mexican musical artists.

Q - The single "Looking For Love" hits AOL soon. Tell me about the new single and the album.

A - It's our first baby, and to us it's the prettiest and smartest baby out there. We're sure there will be more big hits, but “Looking For Love” will always be our first.

Q – Will there be a corresponding tour?

A - Yes - stay tuned for news about Spring 2011!

Q – Thanks for taking the time. Is there anything you wanted to add?

A - Just that we couldn't do this without meeting fans in person and on Facebook. It's in these early days of our career when we feel the fatigue or even futility about making it; then some fan posts something really sweet or encouraging and that makes it all worth it.
