"Maroon 5 joins Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Avril Lavigne and the United Nations."

We recently received a letter from Eileen Kim with a great organization called Aid Still Required. We had recently written an article about the band One Republic joining Maroon 5 and Eileen liked the article and took the time to send the below letter. Aid Still Required is an organization that doesn’t forget about a horrible tragedy when another horrible tragedy happens.

Dear Zoiks!

Thank you for your article on Maroon 5. That's awesome to hear that they're going to be joined by OneRepublic!

I'm writing today because I thought it would interest you that Maroon 5 has joined forces with the United Nations and many of the world's top musicians in an extraordinary relief effort:

Maroon 5, Paul McCartney, John Lennon (estate), Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles (estate), Norah Jones, Avril Lavigne, James Taylor, Ani DiFranco, Shawn Colvin, Phantom Planet, Beth Nielsen Chapman and The Blind Boys of Alabama.

(From MTV.com)

We feel this is an exceptional musical compilation not only because of the caliber of artists, but also because this project is endorsed by President Clinton's UN office and because the proceeds will go to fund sustainable, job-creating projects for thousands who are still struggling since the 2004 tsunami.

You're probably thinking - the tsunami? Why did these artists pick the tsunami?

It's our mission at Aid Still Required to champion forgotten issues and people who have been left behind after natural disasters. The tsunami is a perfect example: Few westerners know how much work remains to be done there. When we understand that tsunami survivors had little or nothing to begin with and that most of their industry was decimated by the wave, we get a picture of what life is like 5 1/2 years later.

Aid Still Required is a Los Angeles based 501c3 best known for its outreach with NBA players (Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Tracy McGrady and many others) to bring the Darfur conflict to mainstream.

Thank you for your consideration.

All the best,

Eileen Kim
