Kopek’s debut album “White Collar Lies” is a great rock album. This album is solid from beginning to end. I wanted to think of something clever as an opener but why beat around the bush?
Kopek’s unique sound and catchy melodies set the band apart from anything that is out there today. Listening to the album, you would think that there are a lot of different influences in the songs and lyrics, but when I tried to think of one band in particular that Kopek sounded like, I couldn’t. And that’s a good thing.
From Velvet Revolver and White Stripes to Buckcherry and Black Crowes, you’ll find little bits and pieces of each band plus some which result in one of the best albums in 2010.
The first single, “Love Is Dead,” is a rock anthem. Think “Shook Me All Night Long” by AC/DC. With lead singer Daniel Jordan’s scratchy voice the song has that raw, rock n’ roll feel to it. This will be the loudest song in every concert.
The first song of “White Collar Lies” will also be a hit. Titled “Cocaine Chest Pains” the song starts off with a fantastic guitar riff that leads into a bluesy rock song where each member contributes the same amount of talent and passion.
One of my favorite Kopek songs is the title track, “White Collar Lies,” a lyrically dazzling tune about corporate greed. You wouldn’t know from the way the song starts off with the guitar playing and drums sneaking in mid song that this song is about corporate greed mentality. It’s a great song beginning to end, with the chorus being catchy using words like politicians, money, corruption, money, and power.
Although this is Kopek’s debut album and for all intensive purposes should be a new band, the trio from Ireland which, aside from Jordan, is comprised of drummer Shane Cooney and bassist Brad Kinsella, has actually been playing together for almost 10 years.
Kopek is definitely a band to keep on your music wish list. “White Collar Lies” drops digitally on June 29, 2010. Check the band out at kopekofficial.com.

This band is totally awesome! I checked out their website and they are giving away a free mp3 for a track on their album. I can't wait to buy it on iTunes on June 29th!
