"Living Dead Lights mixes rock with punk." - Interview

What a great name for a band. When I see it, the opening line of Rob Zombie’s “Living Dead Girl” goes through my head. Not only that, but I’m reminded of the horror movie “Night of the Living Dead,” and as ALAN DÄMIEN (member of Living Dead Lights) brings up the saying “I’m gonna beat the living daylights outta you.” They’re a rock/punk act that comes from all over the world; met up in LA with dreams to rule the world. Recently, I chatted with ALAN DÄMIEN.

Q - How did the band get together?

A - Living a “less than reputable” lifestyle probably brought us together.

Q - Where did you come up with the name Living Dead Lights?

A - Basically the name came up somewhere between the nightmare of the living dead and the saying "I'm gonna beat the living daylights outta you." (laughs)

Q - How would you describe your musical sound?

A - Rock N' Roll with a punk influence.

Q - What is your song writing process like? Do you have one designated songwriter or does the band write together?

A - It's a secret, honestly if we told ya, I'd probably shrivel up into a pile of dust or something.

Q - Do you have to be inspired to write a song, or can you just hammer out an idea until it works?

A – Both, I mean it’s easier when it just comes out, but sometimes you need to beat the hell out of it, then let it go for a while, then come back to it, then it happens. The best songs feel like that the main idea is written in 5 minutes; although I've had songs that have taken 4 years to develop!!!

Q - Who are some of your musical influences?

A – Damn, I like everything from Guns 'N Roses, The Beatles, to Marilyn Manson, The Sex Pistols To Johnny Cash, and I know somewhere in there you'll hear what we do!

Q - Who are you listening to right now?

A - Judas Priest's "Hell Bent For Leather" album.

Q - Do you have any touring plans in the works?

A - We're recording and hoping to release a full length sometime this year.

Q - What can fans expect from your live show?

A - Complete chaos or to spend a lot of money at the merch booth. (laughs)

Q - Is there anything else you wanted to add?

A - Check us out on May 20th at the House of Blues Hollywood and June 3rd at the Troubadour in Hollywood.
