"Bret Michaels is having the best year ever - Not!”

If you would have told me I was about to utter the phrase I’m about to write down, I’d tell you that you are crazy. Thank God I’m not Bret Michaels. He’s a rock star, can get any girl he wants, has two beautiful kids and a family, enough money to support his kids’ future kids and maybe more. What more could you ask for? While somebody else’s life can often seem amazing, it’s not always as it seems.

Despite the fact that Bret is a lifelong diabetic, the last year (from early June 2009 through now) has really been a pretty rough one, specifically the last month. On June 7th of 2009 Poison was playing the “Tony Awards” when Bret apparently missed his mark and was “floored” by a prop. Michaels brushed that off and joined the cast of “Celebrity Apprentice” where he defeated the likes of Goldberg, Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Osbourne, Sinbad and most impressively Rod Blagojevich to make it to the final two (finale airs this Sunday on NBC).

However, on April 12th Bret had to be rushed to the hospital thinking he had a severe case of the flu only for it to turn out that he needed an emergency appendectomy. Not even two weeks later while watching “Busty Cops 3” (and “Sportcenter,” he was flipping back and forth according to “Rolling Stone”) he suffered a brain hemorrhage. Just as he’s getting out of the hospital he suffers a warning stroke which revealed that there was a hole in his heart (it’d be kind of funny if that happened to Gary Cherone…not funny, but definitely ironic, I’m just kidding, I love Extreme). The weirdest part about the whole thing is that according to the doctors, the warning stroke and the brain hemorrhage don’t appear too related. Is that scary or what?

Anyway, our thoughts over at Zoiks! Online are with you Bret and we hope that you have a speedy and healthy recovery.
