"Miley Cyrus leaves kid friendly music career for serious movie career."

Miley Cyrus is quitting the music business. Her fourth studio album, set to be released late this year, will be her last. In an article at MSN.com titled, “Miley defends decision to quit 'political and contrived' music industry,” Cyrus said about her switch to devote herself to movies, “I'd rather be in an industry that I feel like I can be different in, and do things that really inspire me. It's not that I don't love music, I do. But I feel like I just need to get away from that for a little while.”

Cyrus’ alter ego, Hannah Montana, which spawned a huge entertainment empire for millions of children all around the world, recently showed a grown up, more mature person in her newest movie, “The Last Song.” (See the review of “The Last Song” here.)

This isn’t the first time a star separated from her child persona that made her famous. The Olsen twins, best known for doubling duty as Michelle on “Full House,” shied away from the kid friendly personalities that made them rich. Now, one is anorexic and the other is pawning off crappy make-up… wait, that’s Mary Kay.

I used to always think this was career suicide for those who change their image. And honestly, I never gave a rat’s ass about Miley Cyrus but I will admit she does seem to have a good thing going for her, so maybe the transition to child star to serious actress we never hear from again will be a good thing for her.

After all, she still has her father, and no matter if Cyrus fails as a mature actress, she can always refer back to Hannah Montana to quell Billy Ray’s ‘achy breaky heart.’

And so long as she doesn't star in a James Cameron movie, she is sure to stay away from the politicalness in movies.
